Today we went to the BBC’s HQ, Broadcasting House on Portland Place.

Our visit followed widespread criticism of the BBC’s reporting on climate change.

In the aftermath of the 2013/14 winter’s floods, The Today programme was condemned for inviting Lord Nigel Lawson to debate the impacts of climate change with Professor Brian Hoskins, a climate scientist from Imperial College London and Royal Society. Lord Lawson presented much false data as fact and was given equal time to put across climate change denial arguments, despite not being a scientist, or a climate scientist.

Here is a brilliant piece on the day from Alice Bell in The Guardian, very clearly laying out just how Aunty has been doing the public that pays for it a gross disservice on climate.

Our boisterous presenter Anne questioned staff on whether they’re happy being Blinkered or would like their employer to be the Best Broadcaster on Climate:

Many of the BBC staff were delighted to accept a sticker that read ‘Make the BBC the best broadcaster on climate’ and to condemn recent BBC reportage that has been blinkered in its promotion of climate change denial.

BBC Security were (unnecessarily) concerned about our arrival and had barricaded the main entrance, funneling everyone towards us – thanks!
